Dadeland Mall is the leading luxury retail mall in the Miami-Dade area. Our work on the renovation of this project included updating the food court area as well as the associated restrooms. The role that we took on was the project architect of this renovation. Generating construction documents and refining the design with 505 Design, who did the schematic theming of the project, allowed us to work via a design partnership. The skylight structure in the main area of the food court was incredibly important to the renovation. Due to the climate and harsh light that can affect the space, a frit pattern was developed to provide a filter for the light while still allowing the diffused light into the space. Clean, simple design gestures help to inform the design and create an opulence and richness to the food court. Successfully seeing this process through the very complicated permitting process of Miami-Dade county led to this positive experience for both our client and our growth as a firm.
